Joshua and the Lightning Road Book Trailer is Here + Kid Heroes ROCK!

By Donna Galanti

I had so much fun designing the book trailer movie to Joshua and the Lightning Road! It gets my blood pumping each time I watch it and makes we want to read the book all over again (and I know every word by heart)! I hope you like it too. 🙂 And it’s available for pre-order right now in paperback and e-book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Turn up the volume! And hey, you can help me out by Liking the trailer on YouTube (it helps it be seen by other folks). Just click the YouTube button in the lower right screen to watch on YouTube and click the thumbs up.

Joshua and the Lightning Road also just got another 5-star review on Goodreads!
Here’s a snippet!

This was an action-packed adventure mixed with futuristic creatures and ancients myths. You can’t beat that for an exciting combination. There are many interesting characters and fantastical creatures. All are exciting and young readers will enjoy the tale as it unfolds. Read More...

I had such an awesome time this week sharing on The Secret Files of Fairday Morrow in a fun interview! Cornwall castles, mythology, and making head cheese was all part of the fun chit chat so stop by and visit.

I’m also honored to be invited as a guest author on April 16th at The South Jersey Writers Group. I’ll be sharing my road to becoming an author and also viagra giving a writing craft talk. Come visit if you can. AND I’ll also be selling my first copies of Joshua and the Lightning Road! You can get your copy before it releases. See all my upcoming events. I’d love to meet you out and about.

And giveaways are here! My son and I had a blast playing with the “lightning orbs”. Check out our silliness!

I have my next Kid Hero guest coming up on my Kid Heroes series this month. He’s pretty amazing and I can’t wait to introduce you to him. Do you have a child you’d like to nominate as a Kid Hero? See how here. For each kid that I feature I will donate $10 to the Kids Wish Network, a special program that grants wishes to kids who face remarkable challenges and are in desperate need of hope.

And talking about amazing kids – you’ve got to see the video about this AWESOME kid, Caine. At nine he built his dream and didn’t give up, even when no one would share in it. We can learn something about making our dreams happen from this amazing little guy. One man was so inspired he shared this little boy’s invention to the world – and you’ll be so inspired by what he started. Read the story.

Being a Kid Again: Have You Tried It Lately?

By Donna Galanti

I’m excited to have my inaugural post this week over at Project Mayhem, a cooperative of cool middle grade authors that blog together! I’m over there talking about Finding Your Childlike Wonder.

And, in writing about finding your childlike wonder, it got me thinking about other ways I get to be a kid again through my son like reading the same books and discussing them. My big to-be-read list at the moment is (some I am in the middle of reading right now. I have a problem with one at a time):

2015-02-26 09.35.39

And I won a signed advanced reader copy of Mark of the Thief by Jennifer Nielsen. Woohoo!

9997719525_13fe5a81cd_kTaking silly selfies. Videotaping each other in random skits. Making up nonsense songs and phrases (chunky butt nuggets is a favorite…umm, don’t ask!). And creating our very own Dancing Sock Wars. This I recommend!

Dancing Sock Wars
All you need are:
Lots of socks
Music that gets you moving (We like Irish jiggy music by Gaelic Storm)
A big space (clear space in the living room)
Goal:
To not get hit with socks. And if you get all of the other person’s socks you win the war!
Start:
Turn on music loud and dance as fast as you can while trying not to get hit by the “enemy’s socks”. At the same time whap your enemy with your socks and grab away theirs (jumping on couches totally allowed here, Mom and Dad.)

I dare ya not to jig to Gaelic Storm’s The Hills of Connemara that was featured in Titanic. My husband and I saw them play years ago in the park behind our house.

Do you enjoy being a kid again with your own children, or grandchildren? What kind of silly things do you do with them?
